Resort Information
The Serre Chevalier ski area is one of the lesser known ski areas in France but with 250km of pistes, it should definitely be a winter sports resort to visit. It comprises of four villages which are all linked by ski bus. We have chosen accommodation in Villeneuve and the ancient town of Briançon. The whole area enjoys long hours of sunshine and is close enough to the Italian border for day trips to the Milky Way. Its good weather record combines with an extensive skiing area to offer an excellent holiday for all types of skier. The main skiing is in the large bowls reached by the cable car and gondolas from both Villeneuve and Briançon.
· liveliest bars are in Chantemerle which can be reached by bus · nightlife is slower in Villeneuve though Le Frog is pretty lively · Briançon is quieter but still has good places for a night out
· night-skiing · sleigh rides · snowshoeing · winter walks · swimming · ice skating · ski joering · snow mobiling · parapenting · floodlit ice driving circuit
• small beer £1.45 • litre of milk £0.90 • bottle of house wine £6.80 • cup of coffee £1.35
